# Ancient Mariner

Beachbum Berry's dark, dry reply to Navy Grog sets Jamaican and Demerara rums against grapefruit, lime, allspice, and restrained sugar.

Strength: 22% ABV before dilution

- 30 ml [Jamaican rum](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/jamaican-rum.md) — Use a dark Jamaican rum.
- 22.5 ml [Fresh lime juice](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/fresh-lime-juice.md)
- 15 ml [Fresh grapefruit juice](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/fresh-grapefruit-juice.md)
- 15 ml [Simple syrup](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/simple-syrup.md)
- 7.5 ml [Allspice dram](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/allspice-dram.md)

## Glassware

Double old fashioned glass

## Garnish

- Lime wedge
- Mint sprig — Slap the mint gently to release its aroma before placing it beside the lime.

## Method

1. Shake all the ingredients with cubed ice until well chilled.
2. Strain into a double old fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
