# Art of Choke

Cynar and rum absorb lime, rich demerara, bitters, and muddled mint in a stirred drink whose fresh ingredients behave nothing like a conventional sour.

Strength: 28% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 30 ml [White rum](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/white-rum.md) — Use a clean, neutral white rum.
- 30 ml [Cynar](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/cynar.md)
- 7.5 ml [Green Chartreuse](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/green-chartreuse.md)
- 3.75 ml [Fresh lime juice](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/fresh-lime-juice.md)
- 3.75 ml [Demerara syrup](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/demerara-syrup.md) — Use a rich syrup made with two parts demerara sugar to one part water.
- 2 dashes [Angostura bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/angostura-bitters.md)
- 2 sprigs [Mint](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/mint.md) — Use two fresh sprigs inside the drink.

## Glassware

## Garnish

- Mint sprig — Clap the mint gently before placing it in the drink.

## Method

1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, gently muddle the mint, and leave it to steep for 30 seconds.
2. Add cubed ice and stir until thoroughly chilled and diluted.
3. Strain into a chilled rocks glass over one large clear cube.
