# Blood and Sand

Equal Scotch, sweet vermouth, cherry liqueur, and fresh orange make a soft, malty, dark-fruited classic whose apparent incompatibility is its enduring lesson.

Strength: 20% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 22.5 ml [Blended Scotch whisky](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/blended-scotch-whisky.md) — Use a gentle blend without dominant peat.
- 22.5 ml [Sweet vermouth](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/sweet-vermouth.md) — Use fresh, refrigerated vermouth.
- 22.5 ml [Cherry liqueur](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/cherry-liqueur.md) — Use a rich, dark cherry liqueur.
- 22.5 ml [Fresh orange juice](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/fresh-orange-juice.md)

- Orange twist — Express the peel oils over the drink and retain the twist.

## Method

1. Shake all ingredients with cubed ice until thoroughly chilled.
2. Fine-strain into a chilled coupe.
