# Champagne Julep

Cold Champagne, mint, and one sugar cube make a light nineteenth-century julep over fine ice, finished with fresh fruit rather than another spirit.

Strength: 12% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 1 cube [Sugar](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/sugar.md)
- 5 ml [Water](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/water.md)
- 2 sprigs [Mint](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/mint.md) — Use tender fresh sprigs; keep the stems down and do not pulverize the leaves.
- 120 ml [Champagne](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/champagne.md) — Use thoroughly chilled Brut Champagne.

## Glassware

Collins glass

## Garnish

- Mint sprig
- Orange slice — Use one thin half-wheel.
- Strawberry half — Use two small halves.

## Method

1. Dissolve the sugar cube in the water in a chilled Collins glass.
2. Add the mint stems-down and fill the glass almost completely with finely crushed ice.
3. Pour the Champagne slowly while stirring very gently, then serve with a short straw.
