# Coffee Cocktail

Despite its name, this late-nineteenth-century flip contains no coffee: ruby Port, brandy, sugar, and a whole egg shake into a rich café-au-lait colour.

Strength: 23% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 60 ml [Ruby port](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/ruby-port.md)
- 30 ml [Brandy](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/brandy.md)
- 15 ml [Simple syrup](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/simple-syrup.md) — Use a one-to-one syrup by weight.
- 1 whole [Egg](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/egg.md) — Use a very fresh whole egg; pasteurised egg is a prudent alternative for vulnerable guests.

## Glassware

Cocktail glass

## Garnish

- Nutmeg — Freshly grate over the drink.

## Method

1. Shake all ingredients vigorously with cubed ice until thoroughly chilled and aerated.
2. Fine-strain into a large chilled cocktail glass.
