# Gin Basil Smash

Fresh basil is muddled through Jörg Meyer&#39;s bright 2008 gin sour, making vivid green aroma a structural ingredient.

Strength: 22% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 12 leaves [Basil](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/basil.md) — Use large fresh sweet-basil leaves with their tender stems.
- 60 ml [Gin](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/gin.md)
- 30 ml [Fresh lemon juice](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/fresh-lemon-juice.md)
- 20 ml [Simple syrup](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/simple-syrup.md) — Use a one-to-one syrup by weight.

Rocks glass

## Garnish

- Basil sprig — Use a fresh, generously leafy sprig of sweet basil.

## Method

1. Muddle the basil firmly in a shaker to release its colour and aroma.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and plenty of cubed ice, then shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled.
3. Fine-strain into a chilled rocks glass over fresh cubed ice.
