# Heart of Glass

Troy Sidle’s room-temperature Manhattan-scaffa measures its own dilution, saturates bourbon with Cynar and bitters, and turns a whiskey rinse into ritual.

Strength: 25% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 52.5 ml [Bourbon](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/bourbon.md) — Reserve 7.5 ml to coat the glass; use a well-aged bourbon for the rinse.
- 22.5 ml [Sweet vermouth](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/sweet-vermouth.md) — Keep the opened bottle refrigerated and use it fresh.
- 22.5 ml [Cynar](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/cynar.md)
- 17 drops [Angostura bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/angostura-bitters.md)
- 15 ml [Water](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/water.md)

## Glassware

Rocks glass

## Garnish

- Orange twist — Retain the expressed peel in the drink.

## Method

1. Coat the inside of a room-temperature rocks glass with the reserved 7.5 ml bourbon, then discard any excess.
2. Combine the remaining 45 ml bourbon with the vermouth, Cynar, bitters, and water without ice, then express a broad orange peel over the mixture.
3. Pour into the prepared glass at room temperature.
