# Metropole Cocktail

George Kappeler’s equal brandy-and-French-vermouth cocktail layers three tiny sweet, anise, and orange-bitter accents over an unusually dry core.

Strength: 29% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 45 ml [Brandy](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/brandy.md)
- 45 ml [Dry vermouth](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/dry-vermouth.md) — Keep the opened bottle refrigerated and use it fresh.
- 2 dashes [Gum syrup](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/gum-syrup.md)
- 2 dashes [Peychaud’s bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/peychauds-bitters.md)
- 1 dash [Orange bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/orange-bitters.md)

## Garnish

- Maraschino cherry — Use one good preserved cherry.

## Method

1. Stir all the liquid ingredients with cubed ice until thoroughly chilled and diluted.
2. Fine-strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
