# Yale Cocktail

Old Tom gin, two bitters, lemon oil, and a small soda charge preserve the original 1895 Yale as a brisk pre-Martini cocktail rather than a later blue namesake.

Strength: 32% ABV before dilution

## Ingredients

- 60 ml [Old Tom gin](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/old-tom-gin.md)
- 3 dashes [Orange bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/orange-bitters.md)
- 1 dash [Peychaud’s bitters](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/peychauds-bitters.md)
- 1 piece [Lemon](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/lemon.md) — Cut one broad strip of peel with as little white pith as possible.
- 15 ml [Soda water](https://stirred.fyi/ingredients/soda-water.md) — Use cold, freshly opened soda water.

## Method

1. Stir the gin, both bitters, and lemon peel with cubed ice until thoroughly chilled and diluted.
2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, leaving the peel behind, and add the soda water.
